The United Nations Refugee Agency, UNHCR, has appointed Ms. Noriko Takagi as its new Representative in Pakistan.
Ms. Takagi arrived in Pakistan earlier this month, succeeding Philippa Candler.
She brings nearly three decades of experience in humanitarian assistance, refugee protection, programme management and international partnerships across Asia, Africa and Europe.
Before her appointment, she served as UNHCR Representative in Myanmar from 2023 to 2026 and held several senior positions in Bangkok, Budapest, Tanzania and Nepal.
Ms. Takagi expressed her commitment to working closely with the Pakistani government and UNHCR partners to address the protection needs of refugees and asylum-seekers and help them find sustainable solutions for a better future.
