  • Monsoon Exits Pakistan, Light Rain Persists Across Karachi

Light rain and drizzle persisted in parts of Karachi on Thursday morning, even though the Met Department confirmed that the powerful monsoon system has now exited the country.

Residents experienced wet conditions while authorities noted that the remaining showers were due to residual weather effects.

Light rain reported in different areas

Residents in several neighbourhoods, including Faisal Street in PECHS, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Akhtar Colony, Defence, and Kala Pul, reported light to moderate showers since Thursday morning.

The drizzle, which began early in the day, is expected to continue intermittently until the evening.

No new monsoon system in sight

Meteorology Deputy Director Anjum Nazir Zaigham said cloud formation in Karachi continues due to high humidity levels.

But clarified that there is no chance of a new monsoon system developing over Sindh, including Karachi, as the powerful monsoon system has left Pakistan.

He added that from the end of this week, the province, including the port city, will experience hot and humid conditions.

Light drizzle may still occur in Karachi during the early mornings for the next two days.

    Current weather conditions

According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi’s temperature currently stands at 28 degrees Celsius.

The humidity ratio recorded at 79%. The excess moisture in the air is causing clouds to develop, leading to the sporadic drizzles across the city.
