  • Heavy Rainfall Expected in Sindh, Balochistan, Southern Punjab

A monsoon depression currently situated over the Gujarat–Rajasthan border in India is moving westward and is expected to impact parts of Pakistan over the next three days, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned.

According to PMD forecasts, the system will affect Sindh, adjoining Balochistan, and southern Punjab between September 7 and 10.

Coastal Sindh, including Karachi, is likely to experience widespread heavy rainfall, with chances of very heavy to isolated extreme showers.

The rain is expected to continue intermittently until September 10.

Authorities have cautioned that intense downpours may trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of coastal districts.

In central Sindh and adjoining Balochistan, including Khuzdar, Lasbela, and the Kirthar ranges, scattered to widespread moderate rainfall is expected, with isolated heavier falls in some areas.

Upper Sindh, the Suleman ranges, and southern Punjab are predicted to receive isolated to scattered moderate showers, with a few heavy to very heavy spells at select locations.

Meteorologists have highlighted the possibility of extreme rainfall in southeast Sindh, warning that such events could worsen the risk of flooding.

Civic authorities have been advised to monitor conditions closely and ensure all necessary arrangements are in place to respond to emergencies.

This monsoon depression is likely to bring significant rainfall and may affect daily life, highlighting the need for precautionary measures in vulnerable areas.
