  • Amar Khan Calls for Equal Representation of Pakistani Content on Netflix

Amar Khan has expressed concern over the absence of Pakistani original content on Netflix, despite reports that the streaming platform offers the largest title library for Pakistan in all of South Asia.

Reacting to a recent report highlighting that Pakistan has now surpassed India in terms of Netflix library size, the actor and writer took to Instagram to draw attention to the lack of local representation.

“There’s still not a single Pakistani Netflix original,” she remarked, pointing out the gap.

Amar also noted how Urdu-language content is often categorized under Hindi, and that Pakistan is frequently grouped with India in Netflix’s content classifications, further sidelining authentic local narratives.

She stressed the need for equal representation of Pakistani narratives, arguing that it’s time Netflix created space for distinct Pakistani originals, instead of subsuming the country’s content identity under a broader South Asian label.

Urdu deserves its category. Pakistani stories deserve their own place,” she said.

She called for the platform to recognize the diversity within the region.

Amar’s statement has sparked conversation among fans and fellow artists who echoed her call for better visibility and fair representation of Pakistani content on global platforms like Netflix.
