Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have issued a directive to Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) across the province, mandating a ban on the use of social media platforms by police personnel.

The letter emphasized officers and officials are prohibited from using TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, and other social media platforms.

The directive also forbids the uploading of police badges or other identifiable evidence on social media, highlighting concerns over breaches of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The letter notes that several officers have been found violating these SOPs, and it calls for departmental action against those who contravene the new policy.

The police leadership has stressed that the use of social media undermines the integrity of the police force and poses risks to officers' safety.

The new policy aims to address these issues by ensuring strict adherence to SOPs and safeguarding the department’s reputation and operational security.
